The Kindle Fire requires an electrical charging current of 1.8 A (1800 mA), so only chargers meeting current output of more than 1.8 A can charge it. Some chargers on the market have output current of 2.1 A, but most are only 1 A or less. Make sure you see this 2.1 A current rating on the product page.There is no specification on this product page stating what the maximum output current of the charger is. It just says that the home and car chargers are for Kindle 4, Kindle Touch, and Kindle Keyboard. BUT IT DOES NOT MENTION KINDLE FIRE. From this, one can deduce that the maximum current is most likely 1 A (1000 mA) or less.The Kindle Fire needs 1.8 A, and the iPad needs 2.1 A, so this charger kit won't work well. It will power the Fire (keeping it turned on), but it won't charge it in a reasonably amount of time (4-5 hours).You can consider this AmazonBasics charger which can output 2.1 A of current:AmazonBasics 2-Port USB Car Charger with 2.1 Amp Output (Black)It is less than $10.For the Kindle Fire, you also need this $6 micro USB cable, which can also be used as a data transfer cable for the Fire:AmazonBasics USB Cable - 2.0 A Male to Micro B (6 Feet / 1.8 Meters)The total cost is $16.
